A blog about running, reading, and teaching!

It’s Monday-What Are You Reading? 1/7/13

Here we are with another chance to share wonderful books with each other thanks to Jen and Kellee over at Teach Mentor Texts and Sheila over at Book Journey who both sponsor this great meme each week for young adult/children and adult respectively!

 Adult Fiction:

Trapped (Randall Shane #2)Taken (Randall Shane #1)

The Second SilenceThink Twice (Rosato & Associates, #13)

Then Came YouThe Crying Tree

Kid/Middle Grade Fiction:

CrashHush

Justin Case: School, Drool, and Other Daily DisastersTorn Thread

Cabin Fever (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, #6)

Since I haven’t linked up in awhile I went back and pulled up the ones I read over the Christmas break.

My favorite adult book- Sorry, I can’t narrow it down. :) I did love The Crying Tree (sad) and Think Twice. But really I liked all of them.

My favorite kid book- Wimpy Kid for laughs and Torn Threads because I am still so into the time of the Holocaust.

I’m currently reading The Orphan at Ellis Island. It’s ok, but it’s one of those that I really want to finish just because I want to be finished with it and move on to something else. :)

What’s a great book that you’ve read lately that you just couldn’t seem to put down?

I enjoy Scottoline, Goudge, and Weiner…and the Wimpy Kid books are favorites of my youngest grandson, who just turned ten.

Enjoy your week!

Here’s MY MONDAY MEMES POST

Laurel, I know why he enjoys the Wimpy Kid books. They are so funny!

I just read a Eileen Goudge, too – The Diary. It was a quick read with quite a surprise ending. I don’t remember if I read The Second Silence…it’s been a while since I read any of her books.

Have a great week!

Kristin,

The Diary looks VERY good!! I put it on my tbr list on goodreads, but I might need to move it higher on the list! :) Thanks for that recommendation.

Catherine,

Jeff skinned knew what he was doing when he wrote the Wimpy Kid books. He knew his audience!!

Definitely! I think they really appeal to adults to as they remind me of being a kid!

If you like Holocaust books, Sharenow’s The Berlin Boxing Club was really good. My favorite, if you can find it, is I am Rosemarie.

Ms. Yingling,

I’ve heard of The Berlin Boxing Club and already had that on my tbr list, but the other one looks really good so I added it, too. Thanks!!

I haven’t read a Wimpy Kid since number three. Is that terrible? And I’ve never tried any of those “grown up” authors. I do still read adult books. Now to decide where to start.

Angie,

I’ve got SO many books I want to read! If I only had an endless amount of time and money! :)

I really should squeeze in a few “grown up” books here and there. Your choices look so great. I loved CRASH.

  shannonjoe wrote @

Gigi,

I think I get on kicks where ill read lots of kid books and then crave adult ones! Back and forth and back and forth! :)

How was Then Came You? I’ve read a few of Jennifer Weiner’s books, but haven’t picked one up in a while.

  shannonjoe wrote @

Cindy,

I like Then Came You, but then again I have enjoyed all of Jennifer’s books!

I love hearing from you. Let's have a conversation!
