It’s Monday-What Are You Reading?

Of course it’s very late on Monday. In fact, it’s actually Tuesday because it’s 30 minutes past midnight! What am I still doing up??????

I have always been an avid reader and lover of books, but it’s just been in the past couple of years that I have really delved back into this passion. I’ve only started keeping up with what I read since around January of this year on my goodreads.com account. I set a goal to read 211 books this year, but I’ve only read 132 so far!! It’s looking like I might not reach this goal by the end of December. Unless I take some serious days off from work-which is NOT going to happen! 🙂

So here’s this past week in review. I read 2 more Clementine books by Sara Pennypacker. She has fast become one of my favorite characters this year. These books are such a simple read, and Clementine is a delightful and quirky character with a HUGE sense of humor!

I also read The Girl With The Silver Eyes by Willo Davis Roberts.

It was interesting because of the unique storyline-a girl with special powers who doesn’t have many friends because of her differences and longs to find others like her. I think my 6th graders would like this book because of the simple language and “special powers”.

I just started reading Eleven by Patricia Reilly Giff. I have finished chapter 1, and am drawn in by the possibility that Sam was a missing child when he was younger and of what he may find out if he continues to search. He was looking for hidden birthday presents in the attic when he discovered the newspaper article of himself (or so he thinks).

I would tell you what’s on my agenda for the upcoming week after Eleven, but I usually change my mind and can’t stick to a certain stack of books! But I always have that stack waiting for me! 🙂

What are you reading right now?

  1. I tried reading Eleven over the summer but I had it on audio and couldn’t follow the story for some reason so I abandoned it. I’m curious to hear what you think of it! The Girl with the Silver Eyes looks kind of freaky! Except then your description doesn’t make it seem that scary. I’m just starting Matilda with a student and it sounds like that but different! Thanks for joining us!!!

    • Jen-

I was just thinking this morning that I was having a hard time following Eleven. The writing just seems sort of jumpy. The plot should be an interesting one since Sam thinks he may have gone missing around the age of 3 or even been kidnapped, but I’m hoping the writing smooths out eventually! I’ll let you know! 🙂

    • Kellee-

I am so excited to be doing this because I LOVE TO READ! 🙂 I just told Jen that Eleven has a good storyline, but the writing seems to jump around and it’s hard for me to focus with-I’m hoping it smooths out-will let you know!

I love hearing from you. Let's have a conversation!
