14 pounds down!!!

I have lost a total of 14 pounds since December 27th when I started exercising! Woohoo! πŸ™‚

3 pounds in the last week!

I’m on week 5 of the couch25k program. Today was Day1 with jogging intervals of 5 minutes each. The 2nd day will be intervals of 8 minutes. Then the 3rd day will be 20 minutes. WHAT THE?????? From 5 to 8 to 20? Did someone Β with a math disability figure this one??? You’re telling me I have to go from 5 to 8 to 20? All I can say is-I’ll try! πŸ™‚

Tonight I was going to start my little strength training exercises at home, but I’m thinking I’ll start tomorrow. When I feel better. πŸ™‚

Much deserved weekend

Whew! What a week. Between hidden notebooks and stolen items, forgotten passwords, and failing test grades, I am happy it’s Friday. πŸ™‚

At least we get to start over on Monday. So I’m going to try and take this weekend for myself and my family! (Mostly) πŸ™‚

After school today I completed Week 4-Day 2 of my couch25k training program (YEA, me!), and then we finished painting Coach K’s office. IT LOOKS GREAT! Red and white-Go Wadley Bulldogs!

Tonight my daughter and I are going to watch some movies at the hacienda. Tomorrow is my 1 year old great-nephew’s birthday party in Georgia. Tomorrow night my husband finally comes home for his short weekend (he works 6 days a week in GA). Sunday will be my last day to of week 4 training. Might do some part-time job stuff. Might not. πŸ™‚

So-a little laziness mixed in with a little bit of productiveness.

How about you? What’s planned for your weekend?

Buffalo Soldiers

Our story this week is Black Frontiers which tells the story of how sharecroppers moved north to get out of debt back in the 1800s. It describes the obstacles they faced in trying to settle on free soil as pioneers. The African-American soldiers were named “Buffalo Soldiers” by the Indians which they wore as a badge of honor. I found this video by Bob Marley on youtube which my kids last year loved. And kept singing over and over. πŸ™‚ One student last year even said she couldn’t get the tune out of her head and was singing it at home. πŸ™‚

So here you go:

trouble don’t last

I’m reading a heart wrenching book right now about slavery. trouble don’t last by shelley pearsall portrays the life of a young slave, Samuel, who escapes with an older slave and starts a journey toward freedom. I’m only on page 60 right now (it’s been kind of busy this week), but am wondering (and hoping) that they make it to a life they have only dreamed of. πŸ™‚

Plank a day

Yep. You read it right. I’m joining the #plankaday challenge on twitter. I can do this. Did one today and held it for-don’t faint-15 WHOLE seconds!!!! πŸ™‚

And my body was shaking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! πŸ™‚

This challenge is just a fun one to hold myself accountable for “planking”. I’ll do 1 plank a day (or more if I feel like it), and then tweet about it under the hashtag #plankaday.

You can join up, too. We’ll see how long it takes me to work up to 30 seconds and then 1 minute (I must be feeling pretty ambitious). πŸ™‚

Correct planking.

Thank goodness I’m not an author….

I teach. I read. Thank goodness I don’t have to write. I leave that to all of the wonderful authors out there!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart that when I open a book I can immerse myself in the writing that you did while the blood flowed freely. πŸ™‚

I found a quote that I thought was funny:

“I’m writing a book. I’ve got the page numbers done.”— Steven Wright

How many of you have ever really tried to just sit down and write a story? It’s not easy. Even blog writing is not easy all the time.

So once again, thank you to the great authors in the world who make my reading so enjoyable!!! πŸ™‚

AWOL

Yes, I have been absent for awhile! I have gotten so caught up in family and training for a 5k that I have neglected this reading blog. Just wanted you to know that I am still here and will be posting something substantial SOON! I promise! πŸ™‚

If you’re interested in following my journey to running a 5k this year you can by visiting Every Step Counts 365Β .

See you soon!

Week 4-Day 1 C25K

Today was the 1st day of week 4 for Couch25k, and it was great!!!! The jogging intervals consisted of 3 minutes, 90 seconds, and 2 5 minute ones.

I DID IT!!!!! DID YOU HEAR ME??? I DID IT!!!! πŸ™‚

Of course, I trained at my school track instead of where I live, so it was a flat surface and no inclines/hills! Much easier!! I am REALLY looking forward to day 2. I mean, I am pumped!!!! πŸ™‚ So here’s some more inspiration. And forgive me if I ever post an image that I have already posted. I am 41. And a teacher. Which means double forgetting! πŸ™‚

Β This will be my motto!!!! Nothing will stop me! πŸ™‚

And you shouldn’t let anything stop you either.
