It’s Monday-What Are You Reading? 4/15/13

Here we are with another chance to share wonderful books with each other thanks to Jen and Kellee over at Teach Mentor Texts and Sheila over at Book Journey who both sponsor this great meme each week for young adult/children and adult respectively!

Intermediate Grade Books:

The Well: David's StoryGlory Be

Daphne's Book

Glory Be was my favorite of the above 3. I liked The Well and Daphne’s Book, but not as much as Glory Be.

Currently Reading:

Prisoner B-3087

If you have been following me then you know my fascination with all historical fiction books about the Holocaust. This one is no exception. It’s written from the point of view of a young boy in Poland. I’m only on page 66 where he has been sent to his first concentration camp. Love it so far!

Not sure what I’ll read after this one since my week is going to be crazy busy-I mean CRAZY BUSY!! 🙂

What’s your fave from the week?

  1. Hey Shannon! I totally added a “follow by email” gadget for you on my blog. Thanks for the idea! I’m off to read all about you now.

    • Mystica,

I get sad, too, when I read them. Just finished Prisoner B- 3087, and didn’t cry until toward then end which was surprising for me!

  2. What age/grade level would you say Prisoner B-0387 is? I love historical ficiton as well, and because my husband teachers US History, I’m always looking for novels that he could use in his class. He really likes the book, “The Boy Who Dared.”

    • Amanda,

I loved The Boy Who Dared!!! I would say Prisoner B-3087 is suitable for 5th and up to adult. It’s earning 5 of 5 stars from me. Easy to read, but does tell the journey of a young boy through the camps and from his point of view.

    • Gigi,

Hope your vacation is great! And warm! 🙂

Glory Be was good. One For the Murphy’s was awesome. Read it if you get the chance!

    • Suzanne,

I’m loving the holocaust books right now. Of course, I always have to back them up with a lighter read!

  3. Love Mildred Taylor books. I had a student a couple of years back who devoured them all and I read them with her- she is such an amazing author.
Glory B and Prisoner are on my TBR- one day 🙂

    Happy reading this week 🙂

  4. I just finished Hitler’s Daughter, a 1001 Children’s Book from Australia. You must read it. It’s thoughtful and intriguing, both for adults and children.

I love hearing from you. Let's have a conversation!
