Graphic novels are a HIT!

Before this year, my 6th graders had no idea what a graphic novel was. Now they CRAVE THEM!

I’ve introduced them to Babymouse, The Lunch Lady, SMILE, and Amulet.

Our librarian has won my heart (and theirs) by buying A LOT for the library. The shipment came in yesterday. My 6th graders went crazy over them and have reserved most of them already! 🙂 Heart be still!

The biggest hit with them so far out of the new ones is the BONE series. One of my boys MADE me (yes, he twisted my arm!) read 3 different parts of his today. FUNNY STUFF y’all!

Bone, Vol. 1: Out from Boneville (Bone, #1)

Thanks to all you graphic novel authors out there who have found a way to appeal to reluctant readers AND to set readers of all kinds on fire for reading! 🙂

    • Nikki-

I haven’t read any of the BONE books yet- can’t get them out of my kids hands! 🙂 Babymouse is one of my most fave characters ever!

  1. My 7th graders are devouring graphic novels, too. They seem to like many of the same titles. One I just added this week is a graphic novel about Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey and one other researcher whose name just slipped my mind. It’s facts/biography about each woman set in a fictional narrative.

    • Kay-

I need to ask our librarian about those! She just got in the “What Was” books that are like the “Who Was” little biography books. I can’t wait to start my kids in those- so much history packed into an easy to read book! 🙂
