  1. I also teach 6th grade social studies and reading in Morgan County. I love the Watson’s go to Birmingham. Another suggestion is Number The Stars! My students loved it!

    • Christi-

So we are both Alabama girls! 🙂 I loved Number the Stars when I read it, I’ll have to see if I can fit it in!

  2. The Watsons go to Birmingham is an awesome book! Thanks for listing it. Sadly, I don’t think I would have ever picked it up….. had it not been for your recommendation. ….such an important book on so many levels!!! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO! it’s so much appreciated! Great job on your many successes so far and many blessings for 2013!

    • Such kind words!! 🙂 Thank you! 🙂 Didn’t you just love the part where Byron’s mouth got stuck on the car window?? Hilarious. Cool Byron!

  3. Hello! I love your blog. I first found you through your old blog and I have been using your trifolds for Reading Street. I was wondering if you still you the Reading Street Series and if so, having you been finding it easy to match it to our new Common Core Standards. I am finding it daunting. Any suggestions? Thank you a ton!

    • Jamie-

I’m not using Reading Street anymore-but others are at my school. They are just following the program-not trying to tie it to common core. (That I know of)

We are just now starting to get trained I. Common core-Nov 18 to be exact so we will see what happens with that.

I’m attempting a reading workshop model this year. Doing really good with the independent reading part and the read aloud- need to improve in other areas. 🙂

I love hearing from you. Let's have a conversation!
