Blogging Resolutions

I am linking up with Fifth in the Middle for her Blogging New Year’s Resolutions linky!!

I’ve thought about this a lot over the last couple of weeks while on Christmas break. Actually, I don’t think my mind has really shut off too much since we got out. 🙂 Obviously, I blog about teaching, reading, and running. These 2 blogging goals are about the teaching aspect of my life. I also want to ramp up my book reviews, but we will see about that.

I have 2 main blogging goals for this little blog for 2014:

1. I’m already “trying” a blogging challenge formed by some tweeps on twitter-#EdBDaily-blog 365 times in a year. I’ve been PRETTY good about maintaining it so far. 🙂 BUT-I want to have some dedicated posts 2 days a week. I want these reoccurring posts to be:

_____Teacher Channel videos

_____Technology Websites/Apps

I’m going to aim for Tuesdays and Thursdays. 🙂

2. The 2nd thing I would like to do this year is start a TPT store. A FREE one. But first I realize that I need to MAKE something. LOL! And what in the world can I make that I haven’t already seen somewhere in cyberworld??????????????????????? But I’m going to TRY.

So there you have it-my 2 blogging resolutions for 2014.

What are yours????

Run, Read, Teach

RUNNING

2014 is going to be an awesome year for running!

If anybody needs a spreadsheet to track your running/walking miles-HERE YOU GO! It’s sort of cute if I do say so myself! 🙂

READING

Don’t think I’m going to meet my Goodreads Reading Challenge for this year. Goal was 200, and I’m on book# 175. Oh, well. Will shoot for it again in 2014!! 🙂

TEACHING

I can’t wait to tell my 6th graders next week that we will start blogging in mid January!!!!!!!!! I’ve already set up a blog for us at Kidblog. We will take about 1 1/2 weeks to learn all about blogging before we dive in.

And there you go. A short summary of my current thoughts on what makes me who I am- I RUN READ TEACH. 🙂

End of blogging challenge

Or is it???

30 days of posts. Done!

Some of my twitter peeps decided to try and rev up their blogging and are trying to blog everyday for a year. I went with just the month of September.

I think there were 2 days where I posted twice- once to play catchup and this past Saturday to get ahead.

So I’m now 30/30 counting this senseless post where I ramble on and on…. 🙂

Just so it won’t seem completely senseless (hey, I’m trying to read a book and can’t think to write an authentic one!), I’ll leave you with a picture of what my life is like at times.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way! But do you know how sore I am after raking hay? Lol!

So I’m settling in with a butterfinger bar and an Anna Quindlen book. Jealous? Thought you might be. Wink-wink.

Tomorrow I’m starting a running challenge- yeah, yeah, I know how I do in those, but this one is a ZOMBIE running challenge! And I got a tshirt. I’m hoping that will motivate me to get out of this BIG running slump I’ve been in and get back to business.

Stay tuned for my progress. Oh, and I’ll post soon about our Friday agenda independent thingie soon!

Talk to you tomorrow!

Book Blogging Extraordinaire

I just went through all of my “read” books on my goodreads account and made a “not yet reviewed” shelf for them. OH MY WORD. I only went back about 2 years. I ended up adding 332 books to this shelf.

So now my goal is to review them here on my blog. I have been reviewing books on my blog for quite awhile, but OBVIOUSLY not ALL of the ones I’m reading. Good grief- I never thought there were THAT many that I had not reviewed!! 🙂

I had recently applied to be a CYBILS judge and was not accepted. When I really started thinking about why I might not have been accepted I came to this conclusion:

1. YES, I read ALL the time.

2. YES, I review these books on goodreads.

3. NO, I don’t review them on my blog like I thought I did. LOL!

I want to catch up. How in the world am I going to do this? I still want to blog about teaching, etc. I think there’s an unwritten rule out there to NOT publish more than 1 blog post each day. Uh-oh. 🙂

So what’s a girl to do? Hmmm……

I don’t want it to take me 14 years to get caught up on my book blogging. I mean it’s not like I’m NOT going to be reading anything currently and needing to blog about these books as well.

Any suggestions? Do I dare to break the blogging etiquette rule? Do I get caught up when I turn 81 years old? 🙂

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and here’s my “not reviewed yet” goodreads bookshelf:

And, yes, I’m going to break the bloggy rule for tonight anyway.

But please weigh in with your opinion!

Treading Water

Yup! That’s me! Just trying to hold my head above water right now. Teaching all subjects in 6th grade, my tendency to procrastinate, along with my desire to have fun in the classroom=treading water and praying to stay afloat. 🙂

So with that being said in this EXTRA long blog post, I give you this image:

That’s me right now. I know it LOOKS like I’m performing water ballet. 🙂

But I’m not. I’m performing “I will not drown, I will not drown.”

Hey-I’m still good for my blogging challenge though. 17/17 so far!

Let’s not talk about quality posts…..

Blogging Challenge

Some of us on twitter have decided to try a blogging challenge. We are going to see how long we can keep up with posting daily. 🙂

A few of us (ME-ME-ME) have committed to trying it out for the month of September, while a few of the over achievers(ahem-Shawn) are going for the gold-365 days! 🙂 WOWZA!

You can follow us and our craziness at #EdBDaily.

You can follow me directly at @shannonclark7.

This daily post is being kept rather short due to the fact that I’m looking for resources to teach ASTRONOMICAL LIGHT YEAR UNITS TO 6TH GRADERS. 🙂
