I will use this page to post my favorite quotes that I have found. I just found this one the other day, and it seems to apply to my life as well as the students that I will be teaching. We all feel overwhelmed at times with our hectic schedules and a zillion things on our “to do” list. This quote by Mark Twain really puts things into perspective! 🙂
“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the 1st one.”-Mark Twain
“Teaching is the highest form of understanding.”
Aristotle
“Don’t cry because it’s over-smile because it happened.”
Dr. Seuss
“In the case of good books, the point is not to see how many of them you can get through, but rather how many can get through to you.”
Mortimer J. Adler
“When we read a story, we inhabit it. The covers of the book are like a roof and four walls. What is to happen next will take place within the four walls of the story. And this is possible because the story’s voice makes everything its own.”
John Berger
“O, there is lovely to feel a book, a good book, firm in the hand, for its fatness holds rich promise, and you are hot inside to think of good hours to come.”
Richard Llewellyn
“Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read.”
Groucho Marx
