Praise Fitness, Running, Reading

A good friend started a Praise Fitness class at our church on Mondays and Thursdays. Tonight was our 1st one, and we ROCKED it. 🙂 Danced to Toby Mac, Mandisa, Hillsong!!

I was feeling frisky (did I just really use that word??) before the class so I ran/walked a mile.

Ummm- I’m feeling it already. 🙂

Earlier today I worked on some school stuff and read. I finished SNAPPED by Laura Griffin. 5 of 5 stars.

And look y’all- she tweeted me back!!!

It was a great day out of school!!!

Reading YA & My First Run

Have you ever done a Goodreads reading challenge? My goal for the last several years was 200 books in a year, but I decreased it for this year to just 100. So right now I’m 2/100. 🙂

Here are the 2 Young Adult books I’ve read so far this year.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/154/35881377/files/2015/01/img_6477.png

I liked both, but Cracked was my favorite. I REALLY liked it! 5 of 5 stars. Just a warning- it definitely has some spicy language.

One of my goals that I really want to stick with this year is to walk at least 1 mile everyday. In the past I’ve tried to run everyday- but that didn’t work. 🙂

By just walking I think I “might” be able to stick with it because I have a treadmill and I can read while I walk. BONUS!

We had a teacher workday today so I was back on a regular schedule. And an early schedule. And I DO mean early. Normally I roll (or jump frantically) out of bed during the week at about 6:20-6:30.

But since I’m going to attempt to walk my mile in the mornings before school AND read my bible I had to get up at 5:15!!!!

But I did it! I may or may not have looked like this turtle….

So this is what I got done be ogre arriving at school at 8:20:
Walked 1 mile, read 3 chapters in my bible and my devotional, wrote in my faith journal, made cornbread and white chicken chili to take to school, showered and dressed, and made my bed.

3 hours of stuff!

And then when I got home after school I RAN MY FIRST MILE FOR 2015!! Outside!!! 12:35. Woohoo!!!

And now the question I want to ask is:

IS IT TIME TO GO TO BED YET????? 🙂

Running Behind

I was running behind all day today in everything I did. Which caused a little stress. But I made it. 🙂

But that’s not the running behind I want to focus on right now. This running behind translates into BEHIND ON MY RUNNING. And I feel it. Eeek!

Look at these miles for December.

And those are mostly WALKING miles. Sigh.

So what do you think one of my goals is for 2015?

You got it. Running. Walking. Moving.

But for now I leave you with this. I’m not ashamed. 🙂

Nike + App Enlightening

Well, folks, I learned something new this week. Which is really nothing new because I’m always learning.

But what makes this so special is that I SHOULD HAVE LEARNED THIS A LONG TIME AGO!!!!!

My nike + app on my phone that I use when I run that I’VE HAD FOR WAY OVER A YEAR can add your stats on a picture from your camera photo roll!!!

How about that?!?!??!?

Oh, you already knew? Yeah, so did the majority of the world. Except me. Lol!

This pretty much made my day when I found out. 🙂

I’m on it now!!!

What app do you use when you’re running?

Running #500in2014

Well, it’s the halfway mark for 2014. Time to reassess my running goals for the year.

My goal was to run/walk 500 miles this year. I’m at 120. Gah!!!! Um, I think I’m a little behind.

BUT- last year I only ran 150 miles for the WHOLE YEAR! So I’m still ahead of that!

If I’ve calculated correctly, then in order to meet my goal I will need to run/walk about 63-64 miles each month for the next 6 months. Which equals about 16-17 miles each week.

Can I do this? You bet your bottom dollar I can.

Do I want to do this? Absolutely.

Will I do this? That is the question.

I need some motivation so please feel free to sprinkle some inspirational comments around!

2014 New Years Resolution 5k

My 1st race of the year was a virtual one on New Year’s Day. This one also got me registered for the World Run Day in November so really 2 races in 1.

I made a deal with my husband. I hung out with him and the boys that day, and then he followed me on the 4 wheeler while I did my 5k. And he agreed!!! Gosh, what other things might I have gotten him to do in the past 16 years if I had just asked??!! 🙂

I made this collage with the Pic Collage app on my iphone. Super easy.

That bundled up man running beside the 4 wheeler is my hubby. I was approaching this particular hill that hates me. You know the kind- it’s not that it’s so steep, it’s that it’s looooooooooong. 🙂

Well, he just hopped right off the 4 wheeler and started running with me to get me up the hill. Lest you think he’s an angel, he only did that for about ummm, 15 seconds???? 🙂

It was a great way to start the new year-ESPECIALLY since I’ve joined in the #500in2014 challenge. GULP!

Have you run your 1st race this year yet?

Either you ran today or you didn’t

I ran. But look at what a foolish tweet I sent out afterwards!

Just an ordinary mistake in the life of Shannon on twitter. Can you catch it? Hint-hint. I run slowly.
